I live in Lagos — a city that never pauses to catch its breath. From sunrise to well past midnight, the streets pulse with noise, laughter, and motion. The sound of car horns mixes with the call of street vendors, the rhythm of Afrobeat spilling from radios, and the shouts of bus conductors at every junction. Lagos is chaos and creativity held together by sheer will. We are a people who refuse to quit.
Here, wealth and poverty share the same street. Skyscrapers cast their shadows over sprawling markets and crowded slums. Dreams are born and broken daily. In traffic that can last for hours, you’ll hear both frustration and worship — people singing praises on buses, praying under their breath as they inch forward. Life in Lagos is not easy, but it is alive with faith. God’s name is spoken in every language — Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Pidgin — by those who believe He still moves in this city.
Corruption, fear, and hardship still test us. Many young people fight to survive; others chase opportunity across oceans. But even here, amid the noise and struggle, I see the Spirit of God moving. Churches rise in backstreets and warehouses. People gather on beaches to pray at dawn. There is hunger — not just for food, but for justice, truth, and hope. I believe Lagos is more than a city of survival; it’s a city of calling. God is raising a generation here — bold, creative, unafraid — who will carry His light through Nigeria and into the nations.
(Habakuk 2:14)
