I live in Baghdad, a city once called the “City of Peace,” though its streets now carry the weight of decades of war and unrest. Walking through the neighborhoods, I see the echoes of a time when Baghdad was a thriving, cosmopolitan center of culture and commerce, and I long for that peace to return—not through human effort, but through the Prince of Peace, Jesus.
As a follower of Christ here, I am surrounded by my brothers and sisters from Iraq’s traditional Christian communities—about 250,000 of us—clinging to hope in the midst of uncertainty. The city grows, yet struggles under economic instability, and I see so many hearts hungry for real peace, healing, and reconciliation.
I believe God is opening a window of opportunity for us to be His hands and feet, to shine His love into our fractured streets, and to bring the hope of the Messiah to a city that has long been longing for His presence. Every prayer I lift, every act of service, is a step toward seeing Baghdad restored—not by politics, power, or wealth, but by the power of Jesus’ love transforming lives from the inside out.
- Pray for the peace of Baghdad, that the Prince of Peace, Jesus, would bring healing to the city’s wounds from decades of conflict.
- Pray for believers here, that we would have courage, wisdom, and boldness to shine Christ’s light in neighborhoods filled with fear and uncertainty.
- Pray for the hearts of the people, that those searching for hope would encounter Jesus and experience His love and restoration.
- Pray for unity among Iraq’s Christian communities, that we would stand together in prayer, service, and witness to a city longing for God’s presence.
- Pray for revival in Baghdad, that families, schools, and marketplaces would be transformed by the power of the Gospel, and that Jesus’ kingdom would advance across every street.
