Today’s Big Thought

Где можно найти мудрость?

Meet the Communities Around the World

Beyond the Ganges River, Hindus carry faith, culture, and tradition across oceans. With it, they are reshaping the religious, economic, and cultural landscapes where they settle. Today’s prayers focus on these people, called the Indian diaspora. There are over 18 million people and are one of the most geographically dispersed and influential migrant populations in the world.

Indian communities are building businesses, and temples and sharing yoga and religious festivals in communities that they move to. Temples, such as BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham in New Jersey, have been built, marking that place as a centre of Hindu worship. Yoga and Diwali are also becoming familiar in schools, workplaces, and communities.

Who are they?
The Indian diaspora includes people from India and people of Indian heritage who live in other countries.
World’s largest
India has the world’s largest diaspora, with about 18 million overseas Indians recorded in 2024.
Community locations
Indian communities live across more than 110 countries, including the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, the United Kingdom, and South Africa.
Culture
Diaspora communities share Indian culture through food, language, music, temples, yoga, businesses, and festivals such as Diwali.

For ages 6–8: Spot it: can you find a Diwali lamp, a green bus, a red van, and a white truck? What else do you see?

For ages 9–12: How can we love and respect a person and their culture while shining the truth of Jesus and sharing His good news with them?

Pray, Remember, Respond

Стих для запоминания

“They search the sources of the rivers and bring hidden things to light. But where can wisdom be found? Where does understanding dwell?”

Job 28:11-12

What does it mean? God invites us to pray with hope for people everywhere.
Try it: tap one important word to circle it. Then draw a tiny picture on paper to help you remember it.

Dear God, today I want to pray for…

Lord, I pray, as Hinduism slowly spreads across the world with the Indian diaspora, You would stop it. These people leaving India would find a new life in you when they leave. May light break through the darkness and you rise up and bless these people. Bring these people to know you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Молитвенные пункты

Tap each prayer star after you pray.

  • Believers

Pray for believers to recognize the opportunities they have, and be bold enough to openly share the love of Jesus with these new people in their communities.

  • Мудрость

Pray that God’s wisdom would begin to take root as these people come to Christ. That they would then take Christ’s love back to others and pray the gospel spreads.

  • Gujarati Community

Pray for the Gujarati community to hear the Gospel and respond with open hearts to the new life and hope that God offers in Jesus. Pray that God gives wisdom to believers on how to reach these communities.

  • Фестиваль Дивали

Pray for them to realize the fruitlessness of celebrating and worshipping false gods. Let it be an opportunity for Christians to share the truth and the true light over darkness.

Continue praying

Pray for God to hold back evil. Pray He would stop or hold back the spread of Hinduism in the world. That instead His word and glory would spread from end to end and every knee would bow and every tongue confess. Pray that Jesus’ kingdom will come and His will be done in the world.

What would you ask God to do in the world?

Listen, Learn and Love

Find an Indian diaspora community near you, or someone from a different religion or culture, and ask questions about their food, language, or family. Look up one Indian food recipe and make it for your new friend or share a snack. As you do, get to know them and share the truth and love of Jesus with them.

Your prayer is saved on this device, so it will still be here when you come back. Nobody else can see it unless a grown-up helps you share it.
