Justin is an incredibly talented young Indonesian writer. He overcame the massive challenges of autism, difficulty speaking, and daily struggles to publish his first book at the age of 8. Despite his difficulties, Justin uses his writing to inspire and encourage others worldwide, turning his challenges into a source of strength.

Justin has written our daily thoughts and themes for the Prayer Guide and trusts that each one of us is blessed, comforted and encouraged by them.

Non rinunciare mai ai tuoi sogni! Sono Justin Gunawan, indonesiano.

Today I want to talk about dreams. Everyone, young and old has dreams.

Sogno di diventare un oratore e uno scrittore... ma la vita non è sempre liscia. La strada non è sempre spianata.

I was diagnosed with a severe speech disorder. I didn’t really speak until I was five years old. Hours and hours of therapy have brought me to where I am now, though it’s still choppy and I have difficulties.

Provo mai autocommiserazione?
Mi sento dispiaciuto per me stesso?
Rinuncio mai al mio sogno?

No! It’s only made me work harder and harder.

Voglio essere sincero: a volte sì.

Potrei sentirmi frustrato, stanco e un po' scoraggiato dalla mia situazione.

Quindi cosa faccio di solito? Respiro, riposo e mi rilasso.
ma non mollare mai!

A Justin fu diagnosticato l'autismo a due anni. Non riuscì a parlare fino a cinque. Si sottopose a 40 ore di terapia a settimana. Non fu accettato da 15 scuole prima di trovarne una. A sette anni, la sua capacità di scrittura era valutata solo allo 0,1%, ma gli sforzi di sua madre per insegnargli a tenere una matita e scrivere diedero i loro frutti. A otto anni, gli scritti di Justin furono pubblicati da un editore nazionale.
