Why are we focusing on 110 cities around the world?

The 110 cities strategic focus has been born from a recognition of a significant global shift towards urbanization and God’s heart for cities. The Bible has frequent mention of cities and Jesus weeping over Jerusalem. More than half of the world’s population currently resides in urban areas, a figure projected to reach two-thirds by 2050, with approximately 3 million people moving to cities weekly through migration.

Central to this prayer and missions initiative is Psalm 110:1-3, for the people of God to “volunteer freely” and join in asking God to save the nations. This invitation to labour with Jesus through prayer is rooted in His worthiness.

The selection of the 110 cities is highly strategic, driven by several factors:

• They are identified as the most unreached megacities globally, these cities contain languages spoken by 97% of the world’s remaining unreached peoples.
• The cities were chosen through consultations with church planting movement leaders, prioritizing locations strategic for both reaching resident populations and serving as springboards for movements to spread.
• These cities are targeted by the largest church planting movements worldwide for training, resourcing, and sending workers.
• The selection of people groups within these cities was based on language databases and the World Christian Database’s list of 257 people groups with the most unevangelized individuals, which together encompass more than 80% of all unevangelized individuals globally.

The aim is to foster a city-wide gospel Kingdom movement, an organic phenomenon where the Holy Spirit moves across the entire city, leading to the body of Christ growing faster than the population and impacting the whole city for Christ.
