110 Cities
Choose Language

On this Global Day of Prayer for the Buddhist world, let us ask the Lord to reveal the knowledge of His Glory to the nearly 500 million Buddhists worldwide today. Habakkuk 2:14 gives us a powerful picture of God’s Glory covering the earth as the waters cover the sea.

As we pray, let us believe for an overwhelming movement of God’s presence and truth among Buddhist peoples worldwide.

I want to encourage us to use the Lord’s prayer as a framework allowing Jesus’ own words to direct and shape our intercessions.

May God bless and unite us all as we pray from wherever we are - at home, work, school, Church, Prayer Rooms - or joining together online from around the globe!

Praying for Key Cities

Here is a list of key cities where Gospel movements are emerging among Buddhist peoples. As the Lord leads, choose one or two of these cities to focus on in prayer with your families, churches, and prayer rooms:

Praying The Lord’s Prayer

This, then, is how you should pray:
‘Our Father in heaven’, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:9-10

Praying The Lord’s Prayer

  • Begin in Worship, Praise and Thanksgiving based on the character of God.
  • Spend time Praising God as Father
  • You are the Father of Glory (Eph 1:17-19).
  • You are a Father of the Fatherless (Psalm 68:5).
  • You are the Father from whom every family in heaven and earth is named (Eph 3:14).
  • You are the Righteous and Holy Father – Reigning as King above all others (John 17:11).
  • You are the good Father and You give good gifts to Your children (James 1:17, Matthew 7:11).
  • You are the Father God of all Comfort for those who are hurting and in need (2 Cor. 1:3-4).
  • You are the Father who lavishes Your love on Your sons and daughters (1 John 3:1).
  • You are the Father who sings and rejoices over us (Zeph 3:17).

Father, Make Yourself Real - Hallowed be Your Name in the city of ‘_______’

  • Father, may Your Name - Your Reputation, character, and deeds - be revealed and revered in ‘_______’.
  • Father, may Your Name be treated and treasured as holy - as infinitely valuable in ‘_______’ as it is in Heaven.
  • Father, would You show them Your Glory! - It’s Your Name that is at stake in ‘_______’.

Father, Act as King - Your Kingdom Come to ‘______’

  • Father, would You act as King and remove the blindness over the minds of Buddhist peoples so they would see the light of the Gospel in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 4:4-6).
  • Father, we ask You to bind every Buddhist principality in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ and loose the power of Your Spirit upon every Buddhist family (Matthew 18:18-19).
  • Father, would You restrain lawlessness among these Buddhist peoples and cities and bless each one with Your love and prosperity (Jeremiah 29:7).

Father, fulfill Your good purposes - May Your Will be Done on earth as it is in Heaven

  • Father, it’s Your desire that no one would perish, and all would come to a knowledge of the truth (2 Peter 3:9).
  • Father, we ask that You would draw all men and women, young and old, to Christ in these cities with Your Spirit (John 12:32).
  • Father, may Your kindness lead them to repentance (Romans 2:4).
  • Father, would You convict all of sin, and show them their need of a Savior - Jesus Christ (John 16:8-10).

Next, spend time praying for five people in your own circle of influence by name who do not yet know Jesus. Ask the Lord to give them a personal encounter with Him.

  • Father, would You fill every believer with more of Your Spirit to be witnesses. Empower each Jesus follower with boldness to share the Gospel with demonstrations of Kingdom power and radical love.
  • Father, we ask for discipleship movements to increase in the Buddhist world. It’s Your will - that we love You, love others and make disciples that multiply.

Father, be their Provider - Give them this day their daily bread (provision). Let Compassion Move Us.

  • Pray that the compassion of the Lord - so deeply inclined toward the Buddhist world - would stir believers across East, South, and Southeast Asia to say yes to His invitation to lovingly engage their communities.
  • Across these ten nations with the largest Buddhist populations, more than half a billion Buddhist people are deeply loved by God:

China, Thailand, Japan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia, South Korea, India & Nepal.

We’ve witnessed the Holy Spirit awakening a quiet movement of hope: 115,000 disciple makers choosing each month to see people through the eyes of Christ, show His kindness, and speak His hope. Ask that this Spirit-led compassion continues to grow, so that hearts may be touched, burdens lifted, and wholeness restored.

Pray for Open Doors and Restored Lives

Give thanks for the extraordinary openness we have seen across Buddhist peoples worldwide and pray for these doors to remain wide open for the Gospel.

In the past year, disciple makers have been able to see, show, and speak the hope of Christ to more than 39 million people in Buddhist regions. Over 1.2 million responded with interest, 647,000 received a Bible, and 152 Jesus Fellowships have begun.

Pray that these seeds of hope take deep root, that new believers grow in joy and wholeness, and that every expression of Christ’s love becomes a blessing that honors local communities and reflects the gentleness of Jesus.

  • Pray for the Gospel to go forth across North Korea and for Justice to be released for the poor and needy.
  • Pray for the Gospel crusades across Thailand to reach many with the good news of Jesus Christ.
  • Pray for strength and resilience for believers being persecuted.
  • Pray for God to launch new Houses of Prayer and Worship across China and Japan.
  • Pray for God to send forth Laborers to prayer walk, share the Gospel, plant disciple-making churches and movements, and radically love the poor and needy (Luke 10:2, Isaiah 61:1-3).
  • Pray for God to send dreams and revelations of Jesus Christ to government leaders and Buddhist monks.
  • Pray for the Bible to be translated into the heart language of every people group in these cities (2 Thess 3:1).
  • Pray for God to raise up Youth awakening movements across China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mongolia, and Japan.

Father, Release Forgiveness

  • Father, we ask that You would release the power of forgiveness through the cross of Christ, as You have forgiven us, would You forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.
  • Father, we ask for the ‘ministry of reconciliation’ among broken families. Would You bring healing and wholeness through the power of the Gospel.

Father, Come and Rescue – Deliver from the Evil One

  • Father, would You deliver every Buddhist family from the grip of the evil one. Deliver them from deception. Deliver them from idolatry. Deliver them from hopelessness and despair and release hope and healing through the powerful name of Jesus.
  • Father, would You give Your Son the nations as His inheritance! May the knowledge of Your Glory come like a tsunami wave across these Buddhist cities - all for Your Glory, our joy and the salvation of multitudes of Buddhist families!
“For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory! - Forever and ever, Amen!”
