Start with the theme

But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.

Mateo 13:23 (NVI)
Kingdom parable: The seed on good soil

The 4th Soil of the Kingdom Brings Multiplication

An outreach team of six Lao and 12 Isaan disciples went into unchurched villages to share their faith. As they talked about spiritual things, they heard, again and again, the same comment about a well-known spiritist: “Nangta? Everyone knows her, but she died last year.”

But Nangta wasn’t dead.

She had once been a well-known spirit medium, sought by villagers for healing, deliverance, and blessings. But the spirits she served took a heavy toll on her health, leaving her gravely ill and convinced she was near death.

Then, believers from a nearby house church visited her village. They shared the gospel with her in her home. She accepted Jesus, renounced the spirit world, and was miraculously healed.

After Nangta became a disciple of Jesus, she stopped practicing spirit rituals. This led people in other villages to assume she had died. When the outreach team arrived months later, Nangta opened her home to host them.

When the team told her that people from other villages were reporting she had died, Nangta laughed.

“They’re right, I did die! I died to myself, and now I live for Jesus.”

Nangta’s testimony spread to many villages, and through the outreach, 172 people had heard about Jesus and 33 expressed a desire to follow Him.

One man, Mr. Tongdee, was so moved that he asked believers to help him destroy his Buddhist and spiritist amulets. Many people thought Nangta was dead. But she is more alive than ever in Christ.

Pray with focus

Oremos

  1. Freedom from spiritual bondage

Pray that people caught in spiritism, Buddhism, and fear of the spirit world would encounter the freedom and authority of Jesus. Pray for courage to renounce practices that have held them captive.

    John 8:36
  2. Transformed lives like Nangta’s

Pray that God would reveal Himself to people who are searching for healing, protection, or answers through the spirit world. Ask Him to use believers to share the gospel in homes and communities, leading people from darkness to life in Christ.

    Colossians 1:13
  3. Bold, Spirit-led believers

Pray for Lao, Isaan, Thai, and other local believers to boldly enter unchurched villages, build relationships, and share Jesus with those who have never heard. Pray that God would lead them to persons of peace who are open to the gospel.

    Mateo 9:37–38
  4. New house churches to multiply

Pray that new believers would gather in homes, just as Nangta’s home became a place of worship and discipleship. Ask God to raise up mature local leaders and multiply healthy, reproducing churches throughout Thailand.

    2 Timothy 2:2
  5. Gospel advance

Pray that testimonies of Jesus’ power to save, heal, and transform would spread from village to village throughout Thailand. Pray especially for those who, like Mr. Tongdee, are ready to respond when they hear the gospel.

    Acts 13:49

God’s Kingdom advances in contested places, not by avoiding opposition, but by moving forward through it. Where is God calling you to move forward rather than retreat?
