He told them another parable: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants . . .’

Kingdom Growth — From a Small Seed to a Tree

In 2017, the Lao national church embraced a multiplication approach to making disciples and planting churches. With more than 200 ethno-linguistic groups among 7.5 million people, reaching every community seemed an impossible task.

But like a mustard seed, what began small has grown.

Over the past several years, disciple-makers have been sent systematically to every people group. Some were expelled or detained by police. Yet in many places, the gospel took root, new disciples emerged, and churches were planted. As Lao leaders discovered God’s heart for every people, they began taking greater risks, traveling into remote villages to carry the message of Christ.

Now, the Kingdom is multiplying into new generations. In several provinces, churches have multiplied beyond the fourth generation. And the movement is crossing borders as Lao leaders partner with disciples in a neighboring country to bring the gospel to communities where the Good News had never before been heard.

Pray with focus

Vamos orar

  1. The Kingdom spreading like yeast through Laos

Ask God to strengthen emerging churches, raise up multiplying leaders, and give courage to those carrying the gospel into remote and unreached communities.

    Matthew 13:33
  2. Mustard-seed beginnings to become movements

Ask the Holy Spirit to open doors among every remaining people group and protect workers facing opposition, detention, or expulsion.

    Matthew 13:31–32
  3. Multiplication to cross generations and borders

Pray that disciples make disciples, churches plant churches, and the gospel continues advancing until every people group in Laos and neighboring nations has an opportunity to encounter Jesus.

    2 Thessalonians 3:1–2
  4. A kingdom harvest

Pray for a great harvest through ethnic minority believers in Vietnam’s central highlands who are multiplying disciples among their own communities.

The Kingdom grows in ways we cannot always see or measure. Will you commit to scattering seed even if you never see the harvest?
