I live in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, nestled in the fertile basin around Lake Dian. From my window, I see the lake shimmering under the sun, and I am reminded that God’s creation here is abundant and alive. Kunming has grown into a major hub for communication and industry in southwestern China, yet beneath the bustling streets, I see hearts still searching for hope and meaning.

China is vast and ancient, with more than 4,000 years of recorded history, yet so many still live without the knowledge of Jesus. People often think we are all the same, but here in Yunnan, I see incredible diversity—dozens of ethnic groups, countless languages, and a tapestry of cultures that can be hard to understand, even for those of us who were born here.

I am part of a movement that has quietly grown since 1949, with millions of Chinese coming to faith in Christ. But the reality is hard—believers live under pressure, and Uyghur Muslims turning to Jesus face severe persecution. Fear is real, yet I trust in the Lord.

I pray for Kunming, that it will become more than a city of trade and industry. I long for it to be a city where God’s Kingdom breaks through every language, every tribe, and every home. I dream of rivers of living water flowing from this city, touching Yunnan and beyond, and for the people here to encounter Jesus and surrender their lives to Him.

- Pray for Every Language and Ethnic Group:
As I walk through Kunming, I hear dozens of languages and see countless ethnic groups. Pray that the Gospel touches every heart, and that the light of Jesus shines into every community. Revelation 7:9

- Pray for Boldness Amid Persecution:
Many believers here must meet in secret and live quietly. Pray for courage, wisdom, and joy to fill the hearts of God’s people, that we may boldly proclaim Jesus despite fear. Joshua 1:9

- Ombea Uamsho wa Kiroho:
Kunming is rich in culture and history, yet so many still seek truth in empty traditions. Pray that God opens eyes and hearts to see Jesus as the only source of life and hope. Ezekiel 36:26

- Ombea Mwendo wa Wanafunzi:
Ask the Lord to raise up believers in Kunming who will multiply, plant house churches, and disciple others, reaching into the surrounding provinces and beyond. Matthew 28:19

- Pray for Kunming as a Gateway:
Pray that Kunming, positioned as a hub for southwest China, becomes a sending city—where the Gospel flows out to Yunnan, Tibet, and neighboring regions, bringing revival to every corner.
