Jacob and Esau were twin brothers, but their story was anything but peaceful. Jacob had tricked their father and stolen Esau’s blessing, and Esau was so furious he wanted to kill his brother. Jacob ran away and didn’t come back for twenty years.

Then one day, Jacob heard that Esau was coming to meet him — with four hundred men. Jacob was terrified. He prayed, he sent gifts ahead, and he prepared for the worst. But when Esau finally saw Jacob, something incredible happened. Esau ran. Not to fight — but to hug. He threw his arms around his brother, and they both wept.
God had been working in both their hearts.

You might know what it’s like to fall out with someone — a friend, a sibling, someone at school. Maybe it’s been going on so long, it feels impossible to fix. But Jesus is the ultimate peacemaker. He gave His life to break down walls and bring people back together. And He invites us to be peacemakers too.

Being a peacemaker doesn’t mean pretending nothing happened. It means being brave enough to take the first step — like Jacob walking towards Esau, bowing low, hoping for forgiveness. Real peace costs something. But it is always, always worth it.

Today, Christians here live bravely, often in difficult conditions. This city sits at the crossroads of many peoples and faiths, just waiting for the peace that only Jesus can bring.

Pray: Jesus, bring peace and reconciliation to Tashkent’s many cultures and faiths today.

• Pray for reconciliation between Jewish and Gentile believers — that historical wounds and misunderstandings would heal, and new partnerships of love would form. (Ephesians 2:14)
• Pray that the ‘One New Man’ — Jews and Gentiles united in Messiah — would be seen as a powerful witness in Central Asia and beyond. (Ephesians 2:15)
