Pray for the underground church, that believers in Baku would be strengthened, protected, and bold in their witness for Christ.
Join believers around the world asking God to reach Baku with the Gospel.
In Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, the old and new stand side by side. From the narrow, cobblestone streets of the Old City rise the gleaming Flame Towers, their fiery silhouettes illuminating the skyline—a striking symbol of contrast between ancient heritage and modern ambition.
Azerbaijan sits at the crossroads of East and West, shaped by Persian, Russian, and Turkish influences. Beneath its surface beauty and progress, however, lies a nation where the Gospel is tightly restricted. The government’s heavy hand has sought to suppress faith and silence the underground church—but the fire of the Holy Spirit cannot be extinguished.
As the towers of Baku burn bright against the night sky, I am reminded of God’s promise—that His light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it. My prayer is that these pillars of flame will become a prophetic picture of what’s to come: hearts burning with love for Jesus, believers rising with courage, and the Gospel igniting across the nation.
