DAR ES SALAAM

TANZANIA
Go Back

I live in Dar es Salaam, a city whose name means “Abode of Peace.” From the ocean shore, I watch ships glide into our harbor, carrying people and goods from every corner of the world. The city hums with life — markets overflow with color, languages blend in the streets, and the warm air carries both the call to prayer and the songs of worship.

Though Tanzania is known as a Christian nation, here along the coast, many have yet to hear the truth of the Gospel. Unreached people groups live among us — families shaped by Islam for generations. Yet, I believe God has called His Church here to rise and pray, to love deeply, and to live as witnesses of His peace.

The name of our city reminds me daily of God’s promise — that His true shalom is more than the absence of conflict; it is the presence of Jesus Himself. I believe Dar es Salaam will become more than an “Abode of Peace” by name — it will be a station of His Spirit, a harbor where hearts are healed and nations are reached.

Prayer Emphasis

  • Pray for the unreached Muslim communities along the coast to encounter the Prince of Peace. (John 14:27)

  • Pray for the Church in Dar es Salaam to stand in unity and intercession for their neighbors. (1 Timothy 2:1–4)

  • Pray for believers to boldly share the Gospel with love, wisdom, and compassion. (Colossians 4:5–6)

  • Pray for Dar es Salaam to become a true harbor of God’s peace and revival across East Africa. (Isaiah 9:6–7)

  • Pray for a wave of discipleship and prayer movements that multiply across the coastal regions. (Habakkuk 2:14)
