When I walk the rocky desert land of Jordan, I feel the weight of its history all around me. This soil carries the memory of Moab, Gilead, and Edom—kingdoms once spoken of in the Scriptures. The Jordan River itself still flows, reminding us of the stories of our faith, of crossings, promises, and miracles.
Amman, our capital, rises on its rolling hills, a city once known as the royal seat of the Ammonites. I think often of how King David’s general Joab took this acropolis so many centuries ago. Today, the city hums with commerce and trade, shining with modern buildings and bustling streets. On the surface, Jordan seems a haven of peace compared to its neighbors, but I know in my heart that this land still sits in deep spiritual darkness.
My people are overwhelmingly Arab, and though we carry a proud heritage and a reputation for hospitality, most have never truly heard the Good News of Jesus. The story of David conquering Amman echoes in my spirit—but this time, Jordan doesn’t need the sword of a king. We need the reign of the Son of David. We long for Him to conquer hearts, not cities, and to shine His light into every corner of our land.
I pray often that Jordan will not only be known for its ancient past, but for a future filled with the living presence of Christ—where the deserts bloom with spiritual life, and where every tribe and family bows joyfully before the true King.
- For Every People and Language: As I hear Arabic spoken in its many forms—Palestinian, Najdi, North Iraqi, and more—I remember that 17 languages echo through my city. Each one represents souls who need Jesus. Pray with me that the Gospel will advance in every tongue and that multiplying house churches will rise up to worship the Lamb. Rev. 7:9
- For Courage and Protection of Disciple-Maker Teams: I know brothers and sisters who labor quietly, often in secret, to plant seeds of the Gospel in this land. They need courage, wisdom, and divine protection. Pray for these teams who risk much to plant churches—that they would be as wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Debt. 31:6
- For a Movement of Prayer: My dream is to see Amman become a furnace of prayer, where believers cry out day and night for our city and our nation. Pray for a mighty prayer movement to be birthed here, one that multiplies across Jordan, uniting the scattered followers of Jesus into a family of intercessors. Acts 1:14
- For God’s Divine Purpose to Awaken: Amman is called the “royal city” of the Ammonites, but I believe God has a greater destiny for this place. Pray for a resurrection of God’s divine purpose in Jordan—that our history would point us to a new story of redemption and revival in Christ in all 21 unreached people groups across the country. Joel 2:25
- For Signs, Wonders, and the Harvest: In the markets, schools, and neighborhoods, people are searching for truth. Pray that as disciples share the Good News, God will confirm it with miracles, signs, and wonders—opening hearts to Jesus. Ask the Lord of the Harvest to send laborers into every corner of Amman until all 10 million unreached peoples knows His name. Matthew 9:37-38
