Six Days of Prayer Have Brought Us to This Moment

Six days of prayer have brought us to this moment. We have prayed for peoples, places, movements, and those who carry the gospel into the Buddhist world. Today, on this Global Day of Prayer, we lift our eyes to the horizon and pray the prayer Jesus taught us: “Your Kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

Nearly 500 million people live within the Buddhist world, with little or no access to the gospel. But this is not the end of their story. We pray because the Kingdom belongs to the One who was, who is, and who is to come. We pray because He has promised that “the knowledge of the glory of the LORD will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea.” And we pray because we have been invited to help prepare the way for the coming of the day of God (2 Peter 3:12), believing that the gospel will reach every people group and every place that has yet to hear.

Let us cry out for a revival of prayer to multiply, grow, and ignite fire for purity, holiness and deliverance from evil. Pray also for God’s Kingdom transformation for those living across the Buddhist world. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)

땅이 여호와의 영광을 아는 지식으로 가득 찰 것이니, 마치 물이 바다를 덮는 것과 같을 것이다.

Habakkuk 2:14 (NIV)

주요 도시들을 위해 기도합니다

As the Lord leads, choose one or two of these cities to focus on in prayer with your family, church, or prayer room. Pray for Kingdom movements (2414now.net) to emerge in each of them. You can find specific prayer points and video resources for each city at 110cities.com.

Praying the Lord’s Prayer

Let Jesus’ Own Words Shape Your Intercession

Use the Lord’s Prayer as a framework, letting Jesus’ own words shape and direct your intercession for the Buddhist World.

  1. “Our Father in Heaven.” Begin in Adoration

Worship God as Father, the Father who welcomes every family in heaven and earth (Ephesians 3:14), the Father who lavishes love on his sons and daughters (1 John 3:1), the Father who sings and rejoices over his people (Zephaniah 3:17). Praise him that his fatherhood knows no geographic or ethnic boundary.

Give thanks for what God is already doing across the Buddhist world. We praise you for every disciple maker who chooses, day after day, to see Buddhist peoples through the eyes of Christ. Thank you for bringing your Word into languages and places where it has never been heard before, for families opening the Bible for the first time, and for new fellowships of Jesus taking root in places once considered closed to the gospel. Praise the Father of glory that his Kingdom is coming—quietly and unstoppably, like yeast. Thank you that no family, in any nation, is beyond the reach of his love (Psalm 22:27).

  2. “Hallowed Be Your Name.” May Your Glory Fill the Earth

Father, may your Name, your reputation, your character, and your deeds be revealed across the Buddhist world. May your Name be hallowed in Bangkok and Beijing, in Tokyo and Ulaanbaatar, in Phnom Penh and Paris.

Father, would you show your glory to Buddhist monks, government leaders, and ordinary families? Send dreams, visions, and witnesses. Let the knowledge of your glory spread like water, finding every low place and filling every hidden corner of the Buddhist world.

Please revive the passion for prayer among the churches in China so that you, Father will once again hear the sound of prayers every morning in that country. (Mark 1:35)

  3. “Your Kingdom Come.” Act as King in the Buddhist World

Father, in Your holy power, remove the spiritual blindness over the minds of Buddhist peoples so they can see the light of the gospel in the face of Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:4–6) Buddhism claims to offer a path to escape suffering. We pray that millions would encounter the One who does not merely offer a path, but who is the way, the truth, and the life.

Pray for gospel movements to multiply across every stream of Buddhism: Theravada peoples in Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Sri Lanka; Mahayana peoples in China, Vietnam, Japan, and Korea; Tibetan Buddhist peoples in Bhutan, Nepal, and the Himalayan highlands. Ask that disciples would multiply disciples, and churches would multiply churches until every people group has a witness. (Matthew 24:14)

Pray for every believer within the Buddhist world to be filled with the Spirit and emboldened to share the gospel—with demonstrations of Kingdom power and radical love. Father, send forth laborers into this harvest. (Luke 10:2)

  4. “Your Will Be Done.” Pray for Open Doors and Transformed Lives

Father, you desire that no one would perish but that all would come to a knowledge of the truth (2 Peter 3:9). We pray this over the hundreds of Buddhist-majority people groups that remain unreached—with less than 2% following Christ and no indigenous church able to reach the rest on its own.

Pray for the Bible to reach every people group in their heart language. Pray for God’s Word to go forth with power across North Korea, one of the most restricted nations on earth. Pray for emerging youth awakening movements across China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mongolia, and Japan. (Acts 2:17)

Pray for strength, resilience, and multiplication for every believer enduring persecution for following Christ in Buddhist-majority nations. May the church in suffering be the church that grows. (Matthew 16:18)

  5. “Give Us This Day.” Pray with Compassion for Five People

Pause and pray for five people in your own circle of influence—Buddhist neighbours, coworkers, classmates, or family members who do not yet know Jesus. Ask the Lord to give each one a personal encounter with him. “Father, draw them to your Son” (John 12:32). “May your kindness lead them to repentance.” (Romans 2:4)

  6. “Forgive Us.” Release Forgiveness into the Buddhist World

Father, release the power of forgiveness through the cross of Christ. As you have forgiven us, would you forgive those who have not yet known your Name, for they know not what they are doing.

Pray for the ministry of reconciliation to reach broken families across every Buddhist nation. (2 Corinthians 5:18–19)

Pray for healing and wholeness for new believers navigating family rejection, for communities rebuilding after trauma and conflict, and for nations still carrying the weight of historical suffering. Father, bring restoration through the power of the gospel. (Joel 2:25)

  7. “Deliver Us.” Set the Buddhist World Free

Father, deliver every Buddhist family from the grip of the evil one—from deception, idolatry, and the hopelessness that comes from seeking liberation without a Savior. Release hope and healing through the powerful name of Jesus.

Father, give the nations to your Son as his inheritance. (Psalm 2:8) May the knowledge of your glory come like a wave across these Buddhist cities—all for your glory, our joy, and the salvation of multitudes.

대답하다

A Promise Worth Praying Toward

Habakkuk 2:14 is not a prayer. It is a promise: “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord.” The question is not whether this promise will be fulfilled, but whether we will choose to be among those who pray, believe, and partner toward its fulfillment.

As these seven days of prayer come to an end, what is one specific, ongoing act of prayer or partnership you will commit to for the Buddhist world? How will you keep praying until the knowledge of His glory fills the earth?

A Legacy of Prayer

E. M. Bounds once wrote, “Prayers outlive the lives of those who uttered them; outlive a generation, outlive an age, outlive a world.”

What a powerful reminder that our prayers are never confined to the moment we speak them. When we pray, we are joining God in His redemptive work—work that reaches far beyond what we can see and often far beyond our own lifetime.

Every prayer you have prayed for Buddhist Peoples is an investment in eternity. Perhaps you may never meet the person whose life was changed because you prayed. You may never know the village where a church was planted, the family that encountered Jesus, or the disciple who carried the gospel to another generation. But God knows. He hears, He remembers, and He is faithful to use the prayers of His people.

Our hope is that these seven days have been more than a prayer guide. We pray they have helped establish a pattern—a rhythm of intercession that continues long after these pages are closed. May these prayers become part of a legacy that carries forward until every Buddhist People has had an opportunity to hear and respond to the Good News of Jesus.

Thank you for praying with others globally. Thank you for holding the rope for people and places that may be far from your everyday life but are never far from the heart of God.

May the Lord multiply every prayer, every petition, and every act of faith—and may we one day see a great harvest among Buddhist Peoples.

May His name be known among every people.
May He be glorified in every place.
May His Kingdom come, and His will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
