You might be wondering, “Why are we praying for the Jewish people every day during this Pentecost adventure?” That’s a great question — and the answer is pretty amazing!
Let’s go back in time to the Bible. Did you know that Jesus was Jewish? So were His disciples, Mary and Joseph, the prophets — even Paul who wrote many of the letters in the New Testament! The Jewish people were the first ones God chose to show the world what He is like. He made promises to them that He still remembers today.
A long time ago, God said through the prophets that He would bless the Jewish people, bring them back to their land (Israel), and send the Holy Spirit to change their hearts. And guess what? That started happening on the day of Pentecost! When the Holy Spirit was poured out in Jerusalem, it was mostly Jewish people who heard the message first and believed in Jesus. That’s why Pentecost is such a special time — it’s like a birthday party for the Church, and the Jewish people were there at the very start!
But many Jewish people around the world still don’t know that Jesus is their Messiah — the one God promised to send to save them. That’s why we pray! We ask God to open their hearts, to pour out His Spirit, and to bring peace to places like Jerusalem and Israel.
Your grown-ups might be praying for some big things too — for revival in Jewish communities, for unity between Jewish and Arab believers, and for the Gospel to go out across the Middle East. You’re not too young to join in! When kids pray, heaven listens.
Think of it like being part of a big team: the adults are praying, pastors are praying, churches around the world are praying — and you get to join in too! Every time you pray, you’re adding your voice to a chorus of love and hope for God’s special people.
So as you go through this adventure, remember: your prayers matter. God hears you. And you’re helping write a beautiful story — one where the Jewish people discover just how much Jesus loves them.
