    In the warm, busy city of Medan in Indonesia, palm trees sway in the sunshine and motorbikes zoom past colourful markets filled with fruit and spices. The air smells of fried rice and sweet tea. Five times a day, the call to prayer echoes across the rooftops, reminding families to pause and pray.<\/p>\n

    Ten-year-old Rani loved helping her mother in their small food stall. Every morning, she stirred rice and curry while her mother greeted customers with a smile. Rani loved God. She prayed every day and tried to be kind. But she had never read the Bible, and she did not know very much about Jesus.<\/p>\n

    One afternoon, Rani\u2019s aunt invited her mother to a small women\u2019s reading group. \u201cWe are just reading stories about the prophets,\u201d her aunt explained. \u201cWould you like to come?\u201d<\/p>\n

    Rani\u2019s mother hesitated. But she was curious. So that evening, Rani and her mother walked together to her aunt\u2019s house.<\/p>\n

    The women sat on woven mats on the floor. A small book lay in the centre of the circle. They were not arguing. They were not debating. They were simply reading stories.<\/p>\n

    Rani listened quietly as they read about creation. They read about Abraham. They read about forgiveness and God\u2019s promises.<\/p>\n
