\"\"Jesus\u2019 direct command to his followers is that they \u201clove one another.\u201d Christians first experience God\u2019s love in a family context; either a birth family or a family of believers. As they grow in faith, they grow in love for their family and then for the broader family of faith. Some go beyond this to show love to those in the society around them. By contrast, Buddhism is based on rules, and those who mature in the faith are expected to reduce their desires and emotions. Family members are connected by duties and obligations.<\/p>\n

Christians from a Buddhist background need to learn a new way of relating to family members, both to elders and to children. Their new relationships are based on love while respecting obligations. Love, and teaching and training our children in love, is a focus of new training materials that are being translated into several languages for use across many countries.<\/p>\n
