Vijftig dagen na Pesach markeert het ook de uitstorting van de Heilige Geest in Handelingen 2. Vrome Joden uit vele landen waren in Jeruzalem bijeen toen de Geest kwam \u2013 de vervulling van Jo\u00ebls profetie en het begin van de Kerk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gelovigen vieren Pinksteren als een herinnering aan Gods trouw en de kracht om moedig te leven. In de Joodse traditie wordt het boek Ruth tijdens Shavuot gelezen. Ruth, een heiden, toonde haar verbondsliefde jegens Naomi en omarmde de God van Isra\u00ebl.
