Het is een havenstad aan de Atlantische Oceaan met 3,4 miljoen inwoners. Dakar werd in de 15e eeuw door de Portugezen gekoloniseerd en was een van de basissteden voor de Atlantische slavenhandel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Met een levendige economie, aangedreven door mijnbouw, bouw, toerisme, visserij en landbouw, is Dakar een van de welvarender steden in West-Afrika. Het land geniet religieuze vrijheid en is tolerant ten opzichte van veel geloofsovertuigingen, maar slechts weinigen van de moslimmeerderheid zijn tot geloof in Jezus gekomen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dit is grotendeels te danken aan de islamitische soefibroederschappen. Deze broederschappen zijn georganiseerd, rijk en hebben de politieke macht, en ruim 85% van alle moslims behoort tot een van hen. Ondanks een relatief grote christelijke bevolking heerst er geestelijke onderdrukking in de stad. Dakar is de sleutel tot het evangeliseren van dit land. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dakar is de thuisbasis van 25% van de nationale bevolking en van leden van elke bevolkingsgroep, waardoor het mogelijk is al deze groepen te bereiken voor het evangelie.
