Het is een stad met 2,6 miljoen inwoners die moderne en Sovjet-architectuur combineert. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nadat Oezbekistan in de achtste eeuw in handen van de Arabieren was gevallen, werd het in de middeleeuwen ingenomen door de Mongolen en werd het uiteindelijk onafhankelijk na de ontbinding van de USSR in 1991. Sindsdien is het leven in Oezbekistan op de meeste vlakken enorm verbeterd. In 2019 werd het zelfs uitgeroepen tot land met de grootste economische vooruitgang ter wereld. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ondanks deze vooruitgang is de kerk in het land grotendeels onderdrukt. Ze worden gedwongen zich te registreren bij de overheid, die de activiteiten en expressie van de aanbiddende gemeenschap kan beperken en controleren.
