“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)
Muslims around the world affirm that Jesus is the Word of God, though their understanding of that title differs greatly from Christians. Hebrews 1 tells us that, “Long ago, at many times and in many ways God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son…”
This truth continues to prevail every time Muslims open the Bible and read the stories of Jesus for the first time. They see the “radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature” when they encounter the Sermon on the Mount or the miracles He performed.
One of the primary ways God is drawing Muslims to Himself is through simple Bible studies that highlight passages of scripture from creation to the resurrection. The Waha app contains many story sets that have been translated into dozens of languages. Over the next 7 days we will pray through a selection of passages that reveal Jesus, the Word made flesh.
As you meditate on these familiar passages, imagine what it would be like to read them for the first time – to see the wisdom, power, beauty, and authority of Jesus. When Muslims read stories from the Bible for the first time, their comments often sound like the Jews of Jesus’ day, “The people were astonished at His teaching, because He taught as one who had authority, and not as the scribes.” (Mark 1:22)
In a spirit of intercession, ask the Living Word to reveal Himself to Muslims as they read His Word.
