Lima puluh hari setelah Paskah, hari raya ini juga menandai pencurahan Roh Kudus dalam Kisah Para Rasul 2. Orang-orang Yahudi yang taat dari berbagai bangsa berkumpul di Yerusalem ketika Roh Kudus turun\u2014menggenapi nubuat Yoel dan meluncurkan Gereja dengan kuasa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Umat beriman merayakan Pentakosta sebagai pengingat akan kesetiaan dan pemberdayaan Tuhan untuk hidup dengan berani. Dalam tradisi Yahudi, Kitab Rut dibacakan selama Shavuot. Rut, seorang non-Yahudi, menunjukkan kasih perjanjian kepada Naomi dan memeluk Tuhan Israel.
