Kota metropolitan yang dinamis dan luas ini memadukan gedung pencakar langit modern dengan kanal dan bangunan dari masa kolonial Belanda. Kota ini memiliki Pecinan yang berkembang pesat dan Kawasan Arab dengan Masjid Ampel yang dibangun pada abad ke-15. Masjid Al-Akbar, salah satu masjid terbesar di dunia, juga ada di Surabaya. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Surabaya merupakan kota terbesar kedua di Indonesia dan berpenduduk tiga juta jiwa. Kota ini juga dikenal sebagai \u201ckota pahlawan\u201d karena pertempuran tanggal 30 Oktober 1945 yang mengobarkan perjuangan kemerdekaan negara tersebut. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kota ini berpenduduk 85% Muslim, dengan gabungan penganut Protestan dan Katolik mencapai 13% dari populasi. Undang-undang baru kini melarang umat Kristiani untuk membangun, yang menyebabkan hancurnya gereja dan bangunan milik umat Kristiani lainnya.
