Imagine being the most unpopular kid in town \u2014 everyone knows your name, but NOT in a good way. That was Zacchaeus. He was a tax collector who cheated people out of their money, and everyone knew it. He was also very short, which is why when Jesus came to town, he had to climb a sycamore tree just to see over the crowd.<\/p>\n
But here\u2019s the amazing part: Jesus spotted him up in that tree \u2014 and called him by name! \u201cZacchaeus, come down! I\u2019m staying at your house today.\u201d The crowd was shocked. Why would Jesus want to spend time with THAT man?<\/p>\n
But that one moment changed everything. Sitting with Jesus, Zacchaeus felt something shift inside him. He stood up and said, \u201cI\u2019ll give half my money to the poor \u2014 and if I\u2019ve cheated anyone, I\u2019ll pay them back four times over!\u201d Jesus said: \u201cSalvation has come to this house today!\u201d<\/p>\n
Jesus doesn\u2019t wait until we\u2019re perfect to come close. He sees us \u2014 even up in our trees \u2014 and calls us by name. When we spend time with Jesus, He changes our hearts from the inside out.
