    Ayodhya and Prayagraj<\/a> (Allahabad) stand as two of the most sacred cities for Hindus along the holy river circuit of the Gangetic plain. Pilgrims traveling this sacred corridor include both cities in their journey \u2014 Ayodhya on the Sarayu River and Prayagraj at the great confluence of the Ganges and Yamuna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Ayodhya, the legendary birthplace of the god Rama, was the epicenter of one of modern India's most explosive religio-political conflicts. The 1992 demolition of the Babri Masjid by Hindu nationalists \u2014 on the contested site where Rama's birth temple allegedly once stood \u2014 ignited riots that killed over 2,000 people. A 2019 Supreme Court ruling awarded the site to Hindus, and a grand Rama temple was inaugurated in 2024, revealing how deeply these sacred geographies are bound to Hindu identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Prayagraj hosts the Kumbh Mela, the world's largest human gathering, drawing 400\u2013500 million pilgrims \u2014 many traveling from across the globe \u2014 the vast majority never having heard the Gospel. Among those unreached, the Bania<\/a> community \u2014 a prominent merchant caste across this region \u2014 remains largely untouched by the message of Christ, embedded in generations of devotional Hindu practice and social insularity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
