Kazakhstan is the largest country in Central Asia. It is a nation of great diversity, housing many ethnic minorities and abundant mineral resources. The population of Kazakhstan is young, with half of the residents aged under 30. The name “Kazakh” means “to wander”, while the suffix “stan” means “place of”. After being under the rule of the Soviet Union for more than 70 years, may the land of wanderers find a home not simply in their national freedom but in the arms of their heavenly Father. Almaty, a major industrial center and the former capital, is in the southeast of the country and is its largest city.
